PGE 8024 50ft. Insulated box car in as delivered look.
PGE 50ft. Insulated box car by National Steel Car
Pacific Great Eastern bought 10 Insulated box cars from National Steel Car in 1969, numbered from 8021 to 8030. They were mainly used for shipping food, beverages and beer to northern British Columbia. To maintain even temperatures, important with food shippments, they had a alcohol fired heater underneath and vents on each side of the car.
They remained in service until the 1990's with their original paint scheme and some ended up in MofW service into early 2000's. When delivered they had yellow truck, but over time they got dirty or were replaced and ended up looking black. The models represent this circumsances.

The masters for this model were developed from prototype drawings, photographs and actual measurements. It is one of a kind Museum quality, completely finished, handmade from epoxy castings and brass stirrup steps, hand grabs and brake rods. They are exquisitely detailed according to prototype with free standing ladders, detailed under floor, alcohol heater and tank, cut levers and brake hoses.
The model is fully functional with #78 Kadee couplers and semi scale metal wheels.
The model has then been weathered using my unique process. This whole process allows the finer details of the model to come to life giving a “real live” look and making it a truly astounding museum quality model.Lettering artwork and decals were specifically made for this models. They are exquisitely detailed according to prototype, yet sturdy. Every model is correct for a specific prototype.
